Ever wonder why your company name is not visible on google map when you did not search for it and just browsing through the google map while some others company name appear but not yours?
The place labels shown on Google Maps are determined algorithmically based on a large number of factors. One factor these algorithms consider is the accuracy of the business information and the richness of the content associated with the business.
Other than that is, Google Map will most likely to show Public services category places such as eg.(Hospital/Petrol Station/Shopping Mall/Restaurant/Bus Station/etc..) those that are not in those category will likely to be shown. But when search for a specific category like “Fertilizer”, all the Company name that is categorize as “Fertilizer” will be shown.
Next is that, Google will most likely to show those category which user usually searched for and those which have been searched before.
Below are some of the factor that can cause your company not showing in Google Maps :
Unverified Business :
Google verifies every local business listing by sending the business owner a PIN number via text, voice or postal mail. The owner then must enter the PIN into the listing before it goes live. Determine whether your Google Places listing is verified by visiting google.com/local. If you see a “Verify Ownership” link, click the link and follow the instructions. The listing then shows up on Google Maps and begins appearing in organic search results.
Recent Changes :
Google indexes the information in Google Places listings every 60 days at maximum. If at any point you change the information in your Google Places listing, the keywords and categories you specified will not go into effect until Google indexes your listing again. However, Google still recommends changing your listing as needed because it is more accurate in the long run.
No Street Address :
Because Google Maps is a location-based service, every Google Places listing must have a street address. If your business has no street address or if you entered a P.O. box as your street address, the listing will not show up on Google Maps or in organic search results. Once you have entered a valid street address, your business should begin to show up.
Quality Guidelines :
Google recommends filling out your Google Places listing as completely and accurately as possible. Do not “keyword stuff” your listing, meaning refrain from ascribing unrelated keywords to your business in an attempt to influence the search results. The more complete your information is, the less likely Google is to pull your Google Places entry from the system.
